I am a traditionally-trained woodcarver and gilder with a background in contemporary art and violin making. I combine the rigorous discipline of fine woodworking and historical ornamental carving with a versatility of approach and an eye for detail and design.

I trained and worked for many years at Carvers & Gilders Ltd, a leading Royal Warrant holding workshop in London, restoring some of the finest examples of English 18th century carved and gilded antique furniture by renowned woodcarvers and designers from the past, such as Thomas Chippendale and William Kent. Through this work, I have developed an expertise for working with traditional techniques and materials, and an intimate familiarity with a variety of historical styles including Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo and Neoclassicism.

Whether creating new designs, restoring historical objects, or making reproductions of period pieces, I respond to each new project with a sympathetic appreciation to its unique and particular demands.

I work from my South London workshop, undertaking a variety of woodcarving, gilding and sculptural commissions. I also teach woodcarving at the City & Guilds of London Art School on the BA and Postgraduate courses.
